Thank you to everyone who came out and supported me. The letters and words of encouragement were overwhelming.

I walked away feeling so blessed to share my songs with some amazing country music fans! I had a chance to talk to several of them. I really got a good pulse of what Music Fest means to those that don't live and work in the heart of country music. I got the pleasure of meeting Polly, who hands down had the biggest smile and won the award in my book as the "Die-hard CMA fan of 2010". This was Polly's 10th year at CMA Fest. Wow!! That's dedication! There also was a family who made the trek all the way from India to spend there vacation at CMA Fest, they were exhausted from the big concert at LP Field the night before, but not too exhausted to brave the 94+ degree weather for another day of great music!

All ages, all backgrounds, all over the world, country music is about connecting with the people. How inspiring!

They have come cascading in through your senses, randomly and unnoticed, sinking to the bottom. Learn to dive for them. When you recover one, when you rise to the surface holding a shimmering unique pearl in your hand, you will not only surprise your onlookers, you will surprise yourself.

Writer's Block

Writer’s Block. What does that mean? Webster’s dictionary defines writer’s block as a psychological inhibition preventing a writer from proceeding with a piece of writing. How can you prevent yourself from writing? Is that even possible?

There are plenty of things that run through my mind on a given day however, when put to paper, they all tend to sound silly or unimportant. The delete button on my computer becomes the controlling factor on what stays or goes.

So how do you decide what is good enough to remain?

For me, I have to go back to the trusty notebook and pen. Free writing everything that comes to my mind. There is no delete button to dictate to me, just pen and paper. There are a few simple rules that I follow:

1. Write with a pen not a pencil! That little pink eraser at the end has a mind of its own. :-)

2. Don’t cross out words. The old trick of marking a line through your mistake is just that, a mistake! Don’t do it!

3. Don’t stop to reread your writing. This allows you to be judgmental about what you wrote. Just write and put it away. Go back and read it weeks later for a good laugh. :-)

Have fun and let go, before you know it you will be penning your next project with confidence.

Surrounded by fascinating art work by local artists and a room full of friends and fans Brad challenged the guitar player in us all. Sporting the new "T Series" Takamine guitar that he helped design, Brad enchanted us with his story telling, and his playing. He demonstrated a technique called the "double down up" which is prominently heard throughout his music.

Brad's fun down to home nature left me amazed that after years of being on the road with the best of the best, this Grammy award winner still remains true.

Check out Brad at www.braddavisontour.com

Oh and go get you one of them T Series guitars, they sound sweet!!!

The bird must peck its own way out of the egg into the world. This aggressive "workout" strengthens the bird, allowing it to function in the outside world. Robbed of this responsibility, it will die. It made me ask myself the question, "Am I passively sitting around waiting for someone to hand me my dreams"? "What am I doing to break out of my shell"? Go after it, fight for what you believe in!

Be active and aggressive.
